Scholarships Awarded

The annual awarding of academic scholarships to some of our community’s finest high school graduates is an event that the Lions take great pride in and represents the single largest foundation expenditure made possible from the proceeds from the Antique Car Show and Haunted Hayride and Barn. This year, the Woodbury Lions Club was proud to announce the awarding of $20,000 to six graduating students at 1754 House Inn & Restaurant on August 6th. Scholarship checks were presented to the following recipients by Immediate Past President, Erich Reichert and Lion Rowland Travis (representing Scholarship Committee Chairman, Lion Cliff Ritter who was not in attendance at the meeting):

Campbell Bologna who will attend the University of New England and major in Maritime Biology.

Adam Budrewicz who will attend the University of Connecticut and major in Political Science.

Caitlin Duda who will attend Southern Connecticut University for Nursing.

Zosia Ofenjiczak who will attend the University of Rhode Island for Pre-veterinary Medicine.

Erich Reichert who will attend the University of Hartford for Mechanical Engineering.

Madison Stewart (who was not in attendance) will attend Quinnipiac University for Pre-law. The following is an excerpt from a thank you letter received from Madison to Li-on Joe Mylie:

“Dear Mr. Mylie,

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for being selected as a recipient of the Woodbury Lions Club Scholarship Grant. I am grateful for its financial assistance as I pursue my academic and career goals.”

The Woodbury Lions wish to con-gratulate this year’s award recipients and may they have great success in all their future endeavors. Photo courtesy of Lion Dave Ahouse.
